India's 12 Jyotirlingas: Mallikārjuna Temple in Kurnool

New Delhi: Also known as Srisailam, Mallikarjuna is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva situated on Nallamala Hills  on the river Krishna in Kurnool District, about 212 km south of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.




Here both Shakti peetha and Jyotirlingam are together that makes it more auspicious. This temple is dedicated to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy (a form of Shiva) and Devi Bhramaramba (a form of Parvathi)

This temple has the manifestation of Nandi. The temple has several gopurams. It has been a a beautiful site under the patronage of Vijayanagara kings.
