Gay rights: Sonia supports, Deoband opposes, Centre may bring ordinance to legalise gay sex

New Delhi: The Centre is seriously considering bringing an ordinance to legalise gay sex rights, as a large section of public opinion has raised its pitch against the Supreme Court verdict holding gay sex as





Darul Uloom Deoband, the topmost Islamic seminary in India, was quick to react.

"Homosexuality is an offence under Islamic law and'haram' [prohibited] in Islam," Deputy Vice-Chancellor of
Darul Uloom Deoband Maulana Abul Khaliq Madrasi said today. 

He also asked the government not to repeal Section 377 of the IPC which criminalises homosexuality.
