Former Punjab PSC chairman Ravinder Pal Sidhu gets 6 years' jail term

Ropar, Punjab, Jul 16: Former Punjab Public Service Commission Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu was sentenced to six years jail by a local court on Monday.He was taken to Ropar jail soon after the verdict. He



Sidhu was given 6 years jail and fined Rs 1 lakh in one case and was given 4 years jail and Rs 50,000 fine in another cases of taking Rs 5 lakhs bribe. The sentences will run concurrently, said deputy district attorney Sansar Chand Attri.

Punjab Vigilance police had arrested Sidhu on March 25, 2002, while taking Rs 5 lakhs from an excise inspector while promising him to make him a member of Punjab Civil Service.  During the raid on his residence, Rs 25 crore worth disproportionate assets were revealed.
