Delhi: BJP leader Vijay Goel's mobile phone recovered, man arrested

When Vijay Goel's car stopped near the Jama Masjid metro station, a person snatched the phone -- Samsung Galaxy 9 from the politician's hand and fled.

The Delhi Police on Tuesday said that the mobile phone of BJP leader and former MP Vijay Goel was recovered. Police also arrested a 22-year-old man who had snatched the mobile phone from him.

The arrested man has been identified as Saajan. A resident of Daryaganj, Saajan sold the mobile phone to a person, identified as Mohd. Aasif, for Rs 2200.

He had snatched Goel's phone last evening when he was going from Daryaganj towards the Red Fort through the Upper Subhash Marg. Saajan was arrested from Daryaganj area. Besides, Aasif has also been taken into custody.

The mobile phone has been recovered, police said, adding that the accused was previously involved in four such cases.

Describing the incident, Deputy Commissioners of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi had said Monday that around 6.45 pm, when Goel's car reached near the Jama Masjid metro station, a person came towards him, snatched his phone from his hand and fled.
