Chennai, Oct 12:  Around 1,820 students of Everwin Matriculation School in Kolathur near Chennai on Thursday arrange themselves to form a giant sparrow to highlight the crisis that the house sparrows are facing from mobile towers.



Sparrow population in India's urban and semi-urban areas is declining fact due to rapid urbanization.

The radiation from mobile phone towers is  considered to be the main reason for  the declining population of sparrows.  So much so, the Delhi government has declared the house sparrow as the  state's bird.
