    Central Railway to install CCTV cameras with face recognition system in Mumbai, at other stations

    As many as 6122 Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras including 3652 cameras with a face recognition system will be installed at 364 railway stations of the Central Railway, it said in a release on Tuesday.

    Jharkhand: Security strengthened in East Singhbhum in view of Eid

    An elaborate security arrangement was made in the East Singhbhum district in view of Eid-Milad-un-Nabi on September 28, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.     Delhi: Boy feared drowned in Yamuna

    A 14-year-old boy was feared drowned in the Yamuna on Tuesday after he allegedly ventured deep into the water while swimming near the Signature Bridge, police said. According to police, four kids, all minors and residents of Gulab Vatika in Loni, Gaziabad, had come for swimming in the river stretch near Signature Bridge around 2 pm.

    Two held for stabbing truck driver to death in Thane district

    In an incident of road rage, two persons stabbed a 24-year-old truck driver to death after their two-wheeler rammed into the heavy vehicle in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Tuesday. The police have arrested Anjala Liyat Khan (23) and Mohammad Anans Asfaque Sheikh (21) in connection with the incident that took place in Kalyan taluka in the early hours of Monday, an official said.

    West Bengal: 14-year-old boy on way to school killed after being hit by SUV

    A 14-year-old boy died and his cousin was injured in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district on Tuesday after they were hit by an SUV while they were going to school, police said.     Delhi: Chunk of road caves in, 2 persons receive minor injuries

    Two men kidnap, kill friend in northeast Delhi, 1 arrested

    Two men allegedly kidnapped and killed a friend in a bid to get Rs two lakh ransom money from his family in northeast Delhi's Karawal Nagar area, police said on Tuesday. The two accused allegedly stabbed Nitin (22) on September 19 and demanded ransom from his family the next morning, they said.     Scientists have used engineered mice to compare SARS-COV-2 Omicron subvariants and found that the BA.5 strain was more virulent likely due to its ability to rapidly replicate early during infection.     India should phase out biodegradable waste disposal in landfills to check methane emissions: CSE report

    India should conduct a nationwide study to accurately estimate methane emissions from legacy waste dumpsites and organic waste processing facilities, and urgently phase out biodegradable waste disposal in landfills, a new report by the Centre for Science and Environment has recommended. The independent think tank's report, titled "Methane Emissions from Open Dumpsites in India: Estimation and Mitigation Strategies", also stresses the importance of creating robust markets for reduced-emission products generated from organic waste processing and promoting carbon credits for biomining projects.

    Man booked for molesting woman at immersion procession of Ganesha idol in Navi Mumbai

    A case has been registered against an autorickshaw driver for allegedly molesting and verbally abusing a woman at an immersion procession of a Ganesha idol in Navi Mumbai, police said on Tuesday. The police have registered a case under section 354 (assault or use of criminal force to any woman, intending to outrage her modesty) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code for the incident that took place in Turbhe on September 24, assistant police inspector Datta Dafal said.

    Uttar Pradesh: Road accident leaves three dead

    Three people were killed in a head-on collision between two trucks on Ayodhya road here, police said on Tuesday. The accident took place on Monday night in which Manoj Kumar Mishra (35), driver of one of the trucks, Pradeep Kumar Chaubey (47) and Sunil Kumar (22) were killed, SHO, Jagdishpur police station, Rakesh Kumar said. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.

    EV motorcycle startup Raptee raises USD 3 mn

    Premium EV motorcycle startup Raptee on Tuesday said it has raised USD 3 million in a pre-Series A funding round.
