    Train coach derails near Bandra Station on harbour line, services disrupt

    Suburban train services were briefly affected as a local train coach derailed between Kings Circle and Mahim stations here on Wednesday, officials said.

    No change in petrol, diesel prices

    There were no change in diesel and petrol prices on Wednesday after two consecutive days of upward revision. Crude prices in the international markets, however, rose owing to reports of a decrease in oil reserved in the US.

    On Tuesday, data from the American petroleum institute, the reserve fell by 59 lakh barrels from the previous week. The benchmark oil price, Brent was trading 0.75 per cent higher at $59. 34 a barrel during the afternoon trade.

    Rajasthan bans certain categories of pan masala

    The Rajasthan government on Wednesday announced a ban on pan masala containing magnesium carbonate, nicotine, tobacco, mineral oil and flavoured 'supari' in the state.

    “All such products will now be banned in the state under the Food Safety Act. This is an important decision taken to curb addiction among youth,” Health Minister Raghu Sharma said.

    Production, storage, distribution and sale of these products will not be allowed in the state.

    Water supply to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in Latur district has been stopped due to insufficient reserves in the
    Manjara dam and other resources after poor rainfall this monsoon. With companies in Latur's MIDC already troubled due to the industrial slowdown, the stoppage of water supply since Tuesday has come as a double whammy for factories, especially pulses and cement units, a local industry body said.

    The Manjara dam, considered as the lifeline of Latur city, currently has 4,000 million litres of water against its total storage capacity of 2.24 lakh million litres.

    Speeding truck goes on rampage, kills two youths, injures four

    Two youths were killed and four others injured when a speeding truck hit them near Singthara village under Wazirganj police station on Wednesday morning, police said.

    Tahir (26) and Sripal (24) were riding a motorcycle when a speeding truck hit them and injured four others, who were out on a morning walk, before overturning into a roadside ditch, SSP Ashok Kumar Tripathi said.

    Both died on the spot, the SSP said, adding that the injured have been referred to the Bareilly hospital in a serious condition.
    The truck driver fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind, the SSP said.

    Angered by the incident, the locals staged a sit-in on the main road disrupting traffic. Senior officials rushed to the spot and pacified them to clear the road.
