    Centre decides to reopen Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from tomorrow

    In a major decision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has decided to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday.

    Taking to Twitter the Union Home Minister said, "In a major decision, that will benefit large numbers of Sikh pilgrims, PM Narendra Modi government has decided to re-open the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from tomorrow, November 17. This decision reflects the immense reverence of the Modi government towards Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and our Sikh community."

    Delhi HC allows serving herbal flavoured hookahs in bars, restaurants

    The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted interim relief to petitioners, operating bars and restaurants in the national capital and allowed them to sell and serve herbal flavoured hookahs subject to an undertaking that they will follow COVID-19 guidelines. Justice Rekha Palli made it clear that bars and restaurants would give an undertaking that they will serve only herbal hookah following strict COVID-19 protocols.

    Zakir Naik's IRF foundation banned for 5 more years

    The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has extended the ban imposed on Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), an NGO headed by Islamic evangelist and India-born preacher Zakir Naik for a further five years.

    In a notification, the Ministry mentioned if the activities of the "unlawful association" were not curbed, it would continue its subversive activities and reorganize its absconding activists to create communal disharmony, propagate anti-national sentiments and support militancy.

    Mahatma Gandhi statue vandalised in Australia

    Attempts were made by some unidentified persons to decapitate a life-sized bronze statue of Mahatma Gandhi that was unveiled on November 12 by Prime Minister Scott Morrison at the Australian Indian Community Center in the Melbourne suburb of Rowville.     Global Covid-19 caseload tops 253.8 mn

    The global coronavirus caseload has topped 253.8 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 5.10 million and vaccinations to over 7.49 billion, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

    In its latest update on Tuesday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload, death toll and the total number number of vaccine doses administered stood at 253,807,313, 5,106,530 and 7,492,843,205, respectively.

    1,240 kg ganja seized near Hyderabad

    The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Rachakonda police have seized 1,240 kg ganja (marijuana) at Boduppal on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The banned substance was being transported from Sileru in Andhra Pradesh to Mumbai via Hyderabad. Acting on a specific input, the SOT in a joint operation with Medipally police seized the ganja and arrested three peddlers.

    Kartarpur Corridor to reopen soon

    Ahead of the upcoming Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of first Sikh guru Guru Nanak, the government is set reopen the Kartarpur Corridor with Pakistan soon. The decision came following a meeting of BJP MPs from Punjab with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. However, the Sikh pilgrims have already been allowed to travel to the Kartarpur gurudwara via the Attari-Wagah border.

    Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday (local time) expressed his readiness to work with US President Joe Biden to build consensus to move China-US relations forward, adding that both the countries are at critical stages of development and the "global village" of humanity faces multiple challenges.

After the inauguration, PM Modi will also witness an airshow by the Indian Air Force on the 3.2 km long airstrip constructed on the Expressway in Sultanpur district to enable landing and take-off of Indian Air Force fighter planes in case of emergency.
