J&K: Cop injured after his service weapon accidentally goes off
A Jammu and Kashmir Police constable posted on security duty outside a polling station in Baramulla district of the union territory was injured on Thursday after his service weapon accidentally went off, officials said.
The incident took place at Tujjar Shareif in Sopore area of the district, the said.
Constable Ashraf sustained an injury in his foot after his service weapon accidentally went off outside the polling station for the District Development Council elections, the police officials said.
He was taken to SKIMS hospital here for treatment, they said.

Missing woman's body found floating in pond in UP's Shamli
The body of an 18-year-old woman, who had been missing since last week, was found floating in a pond in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said on Thursday.
The body was spotted by children playing near the pond in Rajhad village under Garhi Pukhta police station on Wednesday, they said.
SHO Mahabir Singh said the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. A probe is underway to ascertain the cause of the death.
According to a complaint lodged by the woman's family, she stepped out of home on December 3 to relieve herself but did not return, the police said.

Telangana adds 643 new coronavirus cases, 2 deaths take toll
Telangana reported 643 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to nearly 2.76 lakh while two fatalities pushed the toll to 1,482, the state government said on Thursday.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 109, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (84) and Rangareddy (82), it said in a bulletin, providing details as of 8 PM on December 9.
As many as 7,497 patients are under treatment and53,396 samples were tested on Wednesday. Cumulatively, over 59.73 lakh samples have been tested.

Jharkhand reports 191 new COVID-19 cases, three more deaths
Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally mounted to 1,10,830 as 191 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said on Thursday.
The death toll rose to 991 after three more patients succumbed to the disease, he said.
Two new fatalities were reported from Ranchi and one from Dhanbad, the official said.
Ranchi district registered the maximum number of fresh cases at 97, followed by Dhanbad at 16 and Bokaro at 14.
