    Ukraine: 9,000 of its troops killed since Russia began war

    Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which hits the half-year mark this week, has already killed some 9,000 Ukrainian soldiers, a general said, and the fighting Monday showed no signs that the war is abating.     Mumbai cops, customs check catamaran, face language issue with Brazilian captain

    A catamaran with a Brazilian national as its captain was searched at Mumbai's domestic cruise terminus on Monday evening as part of the alert along the state's coast after an abandoned boat with AK-56s and ammunition was found off the Raigad coast some days ago, a police official said. There was nothing suspicious in the catamaran and the captain had all requisite permissions with him, the official said.

    Shalom Cohen, a prominent rabbi and spiritual leader of Israel's ultra-Orthodox Shas political party, has died. He was 91. Cohen was born in Jerusalem to a prestigious religious rabbi and headed a Jewish seminary before joining the newly formed Shas party in the 1980s. He was an outspoken critic of modern Israeli society, including Israel's national anthem.

    Hanuman idol vandalised in Delhi temple; 1 booked

    A person has been booked for allegedly vandalising a deity's idol at a small temple in Northwest Delhi's Mahendra Park area, police said on Sunday. The locals accessed a video which showed a man with a rod near the temple where the idol of Hanuman was damaged.
    Some shops in the vicinity were also vandalised, they said. Police said they suspect that the man vandalised the idol and the shops in a drunken stupor and the locals confirmed that he was an addict.

    20-year-old woman dies by suicide in Delhi

    A 20-year-old woman died after allegedly jumping off the roof of an apartment building in New Delhi, police said on Sunday. She was identified as Ayushi, a resident of the Dhobi Ghat area here. The police said the incident took place around 9 pm on Saturday. "A call was received about a body found outside Yamuna Apartments in the North Avenue area. Preliminary enquiry revealed that she had jumped off the roof of the building as her bag, shoes and mobile phone were found on the roof," Amrutha Guguloth, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi), said.
