    Two injured in LPG cylinder blast in Kolkata

    Two persons were seriously injured on Wednesday morning in a cooking gas cylinder blast in the city's Kasba area, police said.
    The two are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital, a police officer said.

    "The gas cylinders were illegally stored inside a shanty. We are looking how these two injured are involved with storing them," he said
    Local people threw the two cylinders into the waters of a nearby canal, the police said.

    Mayawati hits out at UP govt over law & order

    BSP president Mayawati lashed out at the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday for the spate of murders in the recent past, demanding that the ruling dispensation pay attention to law and order.

    "It's alarming that a phase of murders of leaders, lawyers, and traders has started before the Assembly and panchayat elections," Mayawati tweeted.

    "And, it is very unfortunate and condemnable that these incidents are not being taken seriously and being termed cases of old rivalry. The government should pay attention."

    Pak security forces kill three terrorists

    The Pakistan security forces have gunned down three terrorists associated with banned outfits during an intelligence-based operation in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, police said. 

    The forces killed the terrorists in Mir Ali tehsil of north Waziristan tribal district bordering Afghanistan, they said. The terrorists killed were identified commander Akbar Din, Muddassar and Naik Muhammad. They were wanted in incidents of target killings, attack on security forces' convoys and other crimes, they said.

    Minor girl raped in UP

    A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in a village in the city area here on Tuesday, police said. Superintendent of Police Yashvir Singh said the man allegedly raped the girl after taking her to a secluded place while she was playing.

    Hearing the girl's cry, villagers gathered on the spot and caught the accused and handed him over to the police, he said. The girl has been sent for a medical examination, police said, adding that a probe is on in the matter.
