Bihar goes for complete lockdown, all shops, malls, religious places to remain shut

The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has decided to impose complete lockdown in the state as coronavirus cases rose sharply in the state in the last few days. All schools, colleges, shops, malls, religious places in Bihar will remain shut from July 16 to July 31, except essential services.

The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has decided to impose complete lockdown in the state as coronavirus cases rose sharply in the state in the last few days. All schools, colleges, shops, malls, religious places in Bihar will remain shut from July 16 to July 31, except essential services.

A decision to this effect was taken in a high-level cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar. 

Announcing the decision, Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi said, "Lockdown to be imposed in the state from 16 to 31 July to curb the spread of COVID-19. Guidelines are being prepared."

Meanwhile, according to State Health Department figures, 1432 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Bihar; taking the total number of cases to 18853. So far, 12364 patients have recovered.
