C. V. Raman Born at Thiruvanaikaval, near Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, C. V. Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.C. V Raman was awarded the prize for his outstanding work in the field of light scattering.He discovered that, when light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes in wavelength. This phenomenon was named after C.V Raman.He was also deeply interested in the physiology of the human eye.C. V. Hargobind Khorana An Indian-American biochemist, Hargobind Khorana, won the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine 1968 and shared it with Marshall W. Nirenberg and Robert W. Holley for research that helped to show how the order of nucleotides in nucleic acids.Born in Raipur, Hargobind Khorana left India in 1945 and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1966. He also received the National Medal of Science the same year.He was also a member of the Board of Scientific Governors at The Scripps Research Institute.He continued to head a laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, until his death in 2011. Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar Born in Lahore, Punjab, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, was the nephew of Indian physicist and Nobel laureate C. V. Raman.He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1983, for his mathematical theory of black holes, which was a key discovery that led to the currently accepted theory on the later evolutionary stages of massive stars.He also served as editor of The Astrophysical Journal from 1952 to 1971.He served on the University of Chicago faculty from 1937 until his death in 1995 at the age of 84. Amartya Sen An Indian economist and philosopher, Amartya Sen, was born 3 November 1933. He has made contributions to welfare economics, social choice theory, economic and social justice, economic theories of famines.He has taught and worked in the United Kingdom and the United States since 1972.He was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1998 for his work in welfare economics.He serves as the chancellor of Nalanda University and is currently the Thomas W. Lamont University Professor and Professor of Economics and Philosophy at Harvard University. Kailash Satyarthi An Indian children's rights activist, Kailash Satyarthi has won. 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.Kailash Satyarthi, is working as an activist for children's rights and children education and has also founded the Bachpan Bachao Andolan in 1980.He has also been involved with the Global March Against Child Labor and its international advocacy body, the International Center on Child Labor and Education (ICCLE).He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize this year, along with with Pakistani girl activist Malala Yousufzai, "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education".The Nobel Prize was established in 1895 by Alfred Nobel, and awarded the first prize in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace.
