Another cyclone Helen hovers over Bay of Bengal, heading towards AP coast

New Delhi: Another cyclonic storm HELEN is hovering over west central bay of Bengal and is moving west-northwestwards, says the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) it its latest alert. The cyclone is moving towards  south



It has also asked the state officials to be ready with some plan on the restoration of essential communication post cyclone phase.



Major district to be hit are Nellore, Prakashan, Guntur and Krishna in Andhra Pradesh.

Major damages will be to thatched roofs and Kucha houses, power and communication supply may also be partially affected.

Warnings have already been issued to fishermen in the area to stay away from aea until the cyclone settles down completely.

Evacuation in the coastal region will be made by the district administration as per requirement. People have been asked to stay indoor during the heavy rains until further information.

Six teams from National Disaster Response Force have already been deployed in Andhra Pradesh, two in Nellore, two in Prakasham, one each in Guntur and Krishna districts.

Sixteen NDRF teams are on standby in AP and Tamil Nadu.
