Allahabad stampede toll 36; Both UP govt, railways order probes, ex-gratia hiked

Allahabad/Lucknow/Delhi, Feb 11: Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal  and the UP government today ordered separate probes to ascertain the exact cause behind the stampede at Allahabad railway station on Sunday evening, that took a toll

Earlier, Bansal visited various hospitals in the city where 39 people are undergoing treatment for injuries suffered in the stampede.



The Railway minister said “only three of them are in a critical condition.”

UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will fly to Allahabad on Tuesday to meet the injured and the next of kin of those killed in the stampede.

Senior UP minister Balram Singh Yadav said in Allahabad that the state government has arranged buses for sending the stranded pilgrims to their destinations.
