In yet another example of the blatant misuse of the practice of ‘Triple Talaq’,  a Muslim woman in UP died on Tuesday after she was allegedly locked inside a room for a month without food and thrashed regularly by her husband for dowry.

Razia, the victim, belonged to Bareilly and was given “Triple Talaq” over phone by her husband.

According to news agency ANI, Razia died while she was undergoing treatment. She is survived by six-year-old kid.

"After locking her for a month in the house, he left her at a relative's house. I got her home as soon as I was informed. We went to the police to report the incident. However, the police didn`t register any case," Razia’s sister told ANI.

Farhat Naqvi, founder of NGO Mera Haq,  told ANI that Razia's husband Nahim was married before and that he tortured his first wife in the same way.

"Razia was admitted to the district hospital. After that, she was transferred to Lucknow for treatment. However, her condition became critical and was transferred back," Naqvi said.
