Bhubaneswar: Former Vice Chancellor of Jagannath Sanskrit University Trilochan Mishra passed away at his residence in Sahid Nagar here on Wednesday night.

He was 92 and was suffering from old-age related ailments.

Trilochan Mishra started his career as a professor of English in 1947 and worked in various capacities as an Orissa Education Service (OES) officer from 1948 till 1983.

He was the Principal of Bhadrak College, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack and was the Vice Chancellor of Jagannath Sanskrit University, Puri.  

Mishra had a deep knowledge in Sanskrit and Philosophy. His book – ‘Sanskrit: the language and learning’, is used as a reference guide in various foreign universities across the world.

He was conferred D.Litt by Utkal University, Ravenshaw University and Jagannath Sanskrit University for his research papers.
