Pradyuman murder: Four Gurugram cops under CBI scanner for probe botch-upThe CBI is probing four Gurugram policemen who were part of the SIT which arrested bus conductor Ashok Kumar hours after the killing of Ryan International School student Pradyuman Thakur.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), after making a sensational claim last week that a class XI student killed Ryan International School student Pradyuman Thakur, is probing four Gurugram policemen who were part of the special investigation team (SIT) which arrested bus conductor Ashok Kumar hours after the killing.
According to a Times of India report, the CBI on Monday called members of Gurugram police's SIT "for discussion or questioning". The report claimed that the "discussion" was not for negligence or callousness but because of suspicion that the botch-up was deliberate.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that four policemen of Gurugram Police SIT are under the scanner and their call detail records were being analysed.
On Sunday, the CBI said that its investigation into the murder of Pradyuman has revealed that the Gurugram Police destroyed evidence, and made a false arrest when it said that bus conductor Ashok had killed the boy.
“Whether the evidence was destroyed purposely and knife 'planted' on Ashok deliberately or it was poor policing, it's still being investigated,” CBI sources had said.
Pradyuman was found near the toilet of Ryan International School with his throat slit on September 8 morning within an hour of his father leaving him at the school.
The Gurgaon Police had arrested a bus conductor of the school pinning the blame of murder on him.
Suspecting foul play, Pradyuman's parents asked for a probe. His father even filed a petition in the Supreme Court. The Haryana government then handed the case to the CBI.
Once CBI took the case from Gurugram Police, it automatically probed the role of investigating officers, sources said.
In a sensational twist to the case, the CBI last week announced that it had apprehended a senior student of the same school in connection with the murder of Pradyuman rejecting the Gurgaon Police theory that the killing was the handiwork of school bus conductor Ashok Kumar.
The CBI claimed that the student allegedly slit Pradyuman’s throat to get the school to declare a holiday in order to defer a parent-teacher meeting and an examination.
