Indian and Pakistani troops clashed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Friday, defence officials said.

The Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian positions at five places on the LoC.

"They used mortars, automatics and small arms to target our positions in Digwar, Shahpur, Khari, Karmara and Malti areas," the officials said.

The Indian Army retaliated "strongly and effectively", the officials added. Shelling and firing exchanges are still going on.

This is the second ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army in this region in the last 48 hours.
