Three jawan martyred, four injured in militant ambush in Kashmir’s Shopian

An Indian soldier was today martyred and six others including two officers were injured when militants ambushed the security forces in Kashmir’s Shopian district this morning.

Three soldiers were martyred and four others were injured when militants ambushed the security forces in Kashmir’s Shopian district this morning.

Police said that militants ambushed and fired at the Army in Chitargam village of the district.

The incident took place when jawans were returning after carrying out a search operation in Kungoo village.

"The Army was returning after carrying out a search operation in Kungoo village when they were ambushed by the militants," police said.

The injured have been airlifted to Srinagar for treatment. Reinforcements were immediately rushed to surround the area and trace the militants.

Last year, 17 soldiers were martyred when militants attacked an Army camp in Uri area of Baramulla district.
