The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has dispatched a two-member team of the NIA to Bihar for investigating the claims of three arrested persons that the derailment of Indore-Patna Express was carried out at the behest of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI.

Sources said that the Ministry has also sought reports from the state government and central security agencies regarding the arrested persons and their disclosures.

The NIA team will probe whether there was a larger conspiracy involving ISI agents based in Nepal and Dubai, an official privy to the development said.

The role of ISI in the train disaster in Kanpur was being suspected after Bihar Police arrested three persons who they claimed were working for the Pakistani spy agency to target Indian Railways.

The train disaster occurred on November 20 last year, killing 150 people.

Meanwhile, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has directed all security establishments of Railways to be ‘extra vigilant’ and careful in view of the activities of the anti-national elements targeting the national transporter.

"He (Prabhu) has asked them to further ensure effective coordination with law & order enforcement agencies of the respective states," a press statement issued by the Railways Ministry said here on Wednesday.

Prabhu has also appealed to the citizens to come forward and give any information of suspicious activities to the nearest law-enforcing agencies.
