Muslim women receive death threats for speaking out against ‘halala’ and ‘triple talaq’

On July 8, around 35 Muslim women of Bareilly had held a press conference in which they had demanded tough laws against practices like triple talaq, halala and polygamy.

A section of Muslim women is vociferously raising voice against the practices of ‘halala’ and ‘triple talaq’.

However, some of them are receiving death threats for speaking out against such customs.

Two days ago, two Muslim women from Bareilly had spoken against these practices.

They had also registered cases against their husbands and families in connection with the misuse of these practices.

Now, these women are receiving death threats.

The two women- Nida Khan and Sabeena- had also filed police complaints in this regard.

After registering their FIRs, the police have started the investigations.

According to Nida and Sabeena, their in-laws and neighbours are now asking them to keep their mouth shut and are issuing death threats.
