Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat: SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav leads

Counting of votes for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end, and as expected SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav leads and is set to register an astounding win over his nearest rival Prem Singh Shakya of BJP.

Counting of votes for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency is nearing an end. As expected SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav is leading and is set to register an astounding win over his nearest rival Prem Singh Shakya of BJP.

The Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency is currently held by Mulayam Singh Yadav of SP. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Mulayam Singh Yadav beat Shatrughan Singh Chauhan of BJP by receiving 59.60 per cent of the votes cast in this constituency.

The key candidates in the Mainpuri constituency for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are Mulayam Singh Yadav of SP and Prem Singh Shakya of BJP.

Mainpuri is one of the constituencies in 80-seat Uttar Pradesh. At the time of the previous Lok Sabha elections in 2014, Mainpuri had 1,653,065 registered electors -- 900,568 of them male and 752,497 female. The constituency had seen a 60.45 per cent voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In Mainpuri, the male voter turnout was 64.42 per cent and 55.69 per cent female voters turned out for voting. 

The Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the third phase of the election -- on April 23 and recorded a voter turnout of 56.79 per cent.

The seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls 2019 covered a total of 543 constituencies. Voting in the first phase was conducted on April 11. 

Simultaneous elections were held to the assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, and Odisha -- the results for which will also be out today.
