J&K: Security forces foil infiltration bid, gun down 5 terrorists in Tangdhar

The terrorists were attempting to enter the Indian side in the wee hours of the morning but were spotted and fired upon by Indian forces, new agency ANI reported.

At least five terrorists were killed on Saturday as Indian security forces foiled yet another infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir's Tangdhar sector.  

The terrorists were attempting to enter the Indian side in the wee hours of the morning but were spotted and fired upon by Indian forces, new agency ANI reported.

The number of total terrorists involved in the infiltration bid could not be immediately known.

Indian security forces have been keeping a tight vigil along the border with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan has resorted to unprovoked heavy firing in several sectors of the region in the past few days resulting in a number of civilian casualties.

The Indian Army has announced suspension of operations against militants in the Valley and Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said that the the it can be extended further if the atmosphere of peace continues in the state. However, General Rawat added that 
any action by terrorists would trigger a rethink immediately.

Rawat also said Pakistan should stop sending militants into the state if it was interested in peace. 

"If Pakistan really wants peace, then we will want them to take the first step by stopping infiltration of terrorists into our side. The ceasefire violation mostly takes place to aid infiltration," General Rawat told reporters
