India will not hesitate to take steps to ensure national security: PM Narendra Modi

In the last four years, the government has taken several decisions keeping the security of the nation a priority, said the prime minister.

Addressing National Cadet Corps cadets here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India is a strong proponent of peace but it will not hesitate to take steps to ensure its national security.

In the last four years, the government has taken several decisions keeping the security of the nation a priority, said the prime minister.

"We are strong proponents of peace but we will not hesitate to take any step for national security. The armed forces have given a clear signal that we don't instigate but if instigated, we don't leave them(enemies of the country)," PTI quoted Modi as saying.

Referring to completion of the nuclear triad, he said India was one of the few nations who could launch nuclear weapons from land, sea and water.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday attended the culmination parade of this year's National Cadet Corps Republic Day Camp. 

Cadets from all three wings of the armed forces-Army, Navy and Air Force-presented Guard of Honour to the PM. It was followed by a march past by contingents. 

PM Modi also presented awards to the best cadets in different categories.

Popularly known as the 'Prime Minister's rally', the parade marks the culmination of the month-long camp which is held every year. In this year's camp, a total of two thousand seventy cadets including 698 girl cadets drawn from 29 States and 7 Union Territories participated.
