Warning terrorists against attacking the families of police personnel in Kashmir valley, Director General of state police S P Vaid on Wednesday said that such acts will be retaliated using similar methods.

"Don't bring in families in this conflict, you too have families. If you harass our families, we will do same to your families," DGP Vaid was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Vaid’s warning came a day after around ten militants carrying automatic rifles entered  the house of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at Shopian, who is posted in Srinagar.

The terrorists reportedly asked the family to tell the officer to either quit the job or be ready to face the consequences.

"They told us the police were destroying property of the militants and of those who provide them shelter, and this attack was in reaction to that," a family member of the police officer told TOI.

Blasting the terrorists for threatening the family of the police officer, J&K DGP S P Vaidya wondered how would militants feel if the police adopts same method against their families.

“The families should not be brought into this conflict. If we (police) start doing this to militants' families, how they will feel?" DGP Vaid asked.
