Honeypreet, controversial adopted daughter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim, might be hiding in Nepal: Sources

The development comes a day after Honeypreet's driver Pradeeep Kumar was arrested by a team of the Haryana Police from a location near the religious town of Salasar in Rajasthan.

Honeypreet, the controversial adopted daughter of Dera chief Guru Ram Rahim Singh, who has been absconding since August 25 evening, might be hiding in Nepal, according to India TV sources.

Nepal Police is joining all dots to trace Honeypreet, who according to them, might be hiding in adjoining areas of Pokhara, Butwal or Virat Nagar.

The development comes a day after Honeypreet's driver Pradeeep Kumar was arrested by a team of the Haryana Police from a location near the religious town of Salasar in Rajasthan.

Honeypreet whose real name is Priyanka Taneja was last seen accompanying disgraced godman Ram Rahim till the CBI special court in Panchkula where he was convicted on on two counts of rape.

The controversial woman has been hiding ever since she accompanied the Dera chief in the government helicopter from Panchkula to Rohtak after he was convicted in the rape cases and was being shifted to the prison near Rohtak.

At a time when earthquake hit Nepal, Honeypreet was seen accompanying Ram Rahim in the mountain region.

The Haryana Police have booked Honeypreet for sedition and being involved in an alleged conspiracy to help Ram Rahim escape after his conviction. A lookout notice has been issued against Honeypreet.

WHO IS HONEYPREET?

Honeypreet, who is in her mid-30s and is considered closest to Ram Rahim, and has been his heroine in the five films that he has directed, produced and acted in, in the last three years. Though both (Ram Rahim and Honeypreet) call themselves as the 'father-daughter' duo, her former husband had accused both of having an illicit relationship.

Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment by the CBI court on August 28. His conviction led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana, leaving 38 people dead and 264 injured.

Meanwhile, rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is currently lodged in Rohtak jail after being sentenced to 20 years in prison in two rape cases, is today facing trial in two separate murder cases through video conferencing.

The cases, related to the murder of Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and former Dera manager Ranjit Singh, allegedly by functionaries and followers of the sect is being held in the court of special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh.
