Refusing to modify its earlier order on sale of firecrackers during Diwali, the Supreme Court on Friday said that the ban will continue in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) till further hearing.

The top court was hearing the plea of a group of traders seeking modification of the October 9 order banning sale of crackers for this Diwali which will continue till November 1.

While hearing the review plea filed by traders, judges even said that they are anguished when people give any order a communal angle. "Nobody should politicise the cracker ban order", the court said.

The development comes few days after traders told the apex court that a huge amount of money has been invested by them after their licences were revived and the latest order would cause huge loss to them.
