Delhi: Heavy rains continue to lash national capital, severe waterlogging reported from many areas

Delhi received 24.6 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours and the weatherman has predicted the downpour to continue throughout the day.

Heavy rains continued to lash national capital on Sunday. Reports of severe waterlogging emerged from various parts of the city.

According to traffic police, streets were waterlogged near railway bridge on Bhairon Marg, Hanuman Setu on Ring Road, DM office Nala Road in Geeta Colony.

"Waterlogging was reported in other areas also like Okhla Sabzi Mandi, Netaji Subhash Marg, Bhairon Marg, Rohini," traffic police said.

The Delhi Traffic Police is posting alerts on its Twitter handle to inform people about routes to be avoided.

Earlier on Saturday, torrential rains battered the national capital causing waterlogging and traffic snarls on major intersections in the city.

According to the Delhi Traffic Police, the traffic was affected on Mathura road, Shershah road, Mathura road to Bhairon road, Purana quila road, Bihari colony, Maharashi Raman marg, Teen Murti lane, 11 Murti and Girdhari Lal Goswami Marg near post office due to excessive waterlogging.
