A class 12 student and his family were thrashed after 2 scooter-borne men called the boy gay and got into an argument. The 2 men returned with a gang at their family shop to beat them up with belts and stones.

Class 12 student called 'gay', beaten in Delhi's Shakarpur Delhi Police has registered a case against the accused involved in homophobic violence.

The Delhi Police said on Tuesday that they have registered a case against a group of unidentified men for allegedly calling a class 12 student "gay" and beating his family members following the incident in Shakarpur area.

The teenager was heading towards Ganesh Nagar with his father on Sunday, when two men on a two-wheeler called him "gay", the police said.

When he protested, they started arguing with him. Locals pacified the two parties and the scooter-borne men left, they said.

However, they returned with more men and visited the shop of the teenager's father. The teenager, his brother and uncle were present at the shop.

The group of men attacked the teenager and his family members with stones and belts and fled from the spot, the police said.

A case has been registered and the police were looking for the accused.
