Hyderabad: Interrogation of the five Islamic State suspects arrested a few days back from Hyderabad led the National Investigation Agency make some shocking revelations.
The NIA on Saturday claimed that the suspects had received several money transactions through ‘hawala’ and that they had also pledged their allegiance to the Islamic State.
During the interrogation of the ISIS suspects, it was disclosed that the suspects searched for hideouts in the outskirts of Hyderabad for assembling the bombs and also for shelter after executing the attack.
NIA IG Sanjeev Kumar Singh stated that two arrested persons Ibrahim and Iliyas are brothers, while Habeeb and Fahad are related by matrimony. He further added that one of the suspects had earlier attempted to go to Syria via neighbouring country to become a part of the Islamic State.
“The accused were using chat and email platforms for communicating among themselves as well as the handler. They had visited other places outside Hyderabad for procurement of explosive precursor chemicals and firearms,” the statement read.
The report by the NIA further says that they had also entered into a joint pledge owing allegiance to the Islamic State and its commander Baghdadi. It also stated that they had divided portfolios among themselves for carrying out their objectives.
Earlier, 11 people were detained for their suspected links with ISIS in raids at several places in Hyderabad conducted by the NIA.
The investigation agency told that five of those detained were involved in terrorist activities and an FIR was registered against them on June 22.
During the arrest, NIA had recovered Rs 15 lakh cash, a 9 mm pistol, an air gun and chemicals used in explosives from the suspects. A few training materials were also seized during the search operation.
Earlier, in January 2014, 14 suspected ISIS sympathisers were detained from different parts of the country in an anti-terror operation by the NIA.
