The Indian Army today foiled another infiltration bid by militants from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

"An infiltration bid was foiled by Army in Tangdhar sector," an Army official said, adding that an operation has been launched.

Since the Indian Army had conducted "surgical strikes" at militant camps on the Pakistani side of the LoC in retaliation to the Uri assault, there has been increase in infiltration attempts from across the LoC in J&K.

On October 5, the Army foiled a terror attack on the 30 Rashtriya Rifles camp in Hindwara area of Jammu and Kashmir.

On October 2, a similar attack took place in Baramulla in which one BSF jawan was killed.

Meanwhile, the gunbattle between security forces and terrorists, holed up in EDI building in Pampore, entered its third day and is still on.
