In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old software engineer from Kolkata was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant on Friday night almost around 500 metres from her office in Pune, police said on Sunday.
The girl, who has been identified as Antara Das, was a resident of Sarsuna area of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal and worked for Capgemini, police said.
“The assailant chased her with a knife after a heated argument and hit her on the head and neck,” an eye witness told police.
The eye witness further informed local police that the assailant was wearing a T-shirt with black and blue stripes.
“She left office at 8.25pm and started walking towards KNB Chowk when she was attacked. She suffered serious injuries on her head and nape of the neck,” police said.
The police are yet to identify the attacker. Investigations are on.
