Karnataka: BJP leader allegedly stabbed by Congress MLC in Belagavi, admitted to hospital

The injured BJP leader has been identified as Prithvi Singh and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

Belagavi: A Karnataka BJP leader was allegedly stabbed by MLC Channaraj Hattiholi in Belagavi on Monday evening. Hattiholi is also the brother of Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar. 

The injured BJP leader has been identified as BJP state executive member Prithvi Singh. The incident took place near his residence in Jayanagar in Belagavi.

Singh sustained injuries on his hands and back and has been admitted to KLE Hospital in Belagavi.

What do police say?

Belagavi Police Commissioner Siddaramappa said, "We just got the information 10-15 minutes ago. We are verifying the details. We have not received any police complaints." 

The cops are going through the CCTV footage and are verifying if Channaraj Hattiholi was even there at the spot. "Allegations are being made by Prithvi Singh who is a member of BJP SC/ST Morcha. As of now in the CCTV footage, there's a heated argument which breaks out between Hattiholi's bodyguards and Prithvi Singh," added Siddaramappa.
