An Indian Army soldier was killed when a colleague accidentally discharged his firearm in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, police said on Sunday. Another soldier was also injured in the incident.

According to a statement by the police, the accused personnel has been detained and a probe has been launched in the accidental firing incident.

"There has been an accidental discharge of weapon resulting in one fatal casuality and one injury to army personnel. Accused army personnel has been detained. Necessary legal action has been initiated," said District Police, Bandipora in a post on X platform.
