J-K: Two Jaish-e-Mohammed terror associates arrested in Srinagar, grenades recovered

Two militant associates of the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were arrested and grenades recovered from their possession.

The Srinagar Police on Wednesday said that they have arrested two terrorists associated with the proscribed terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and recovered grenades from their possession.

The arrested militant associates have been identified by police as Arshad Mushtaq and Suhail Majeed Mir, both residents of Pulwama district.

Two grenades were recovered

The police said that  two grenades were recovered from them adding that a case under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosive Act has been registered against them.

“Two(2) terror associates of JeM namely Arshad Mushtaq S/o Mushtaq Mangroo of Badibagh Pulwama & Suhail Majeed Mir S/o Abdul Majeed Mir of Machpuna Pulwama arrested by Srinagar Police & 02 grenades recovered from them. FIR 124 u/s 18,23,39 UAPA & 4,5 Explosive act at Parimpora PS,” police in a tweet said.

TRF terrorist arrested 

Earlier, on Tuesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had arrested a suspected terrorist from the Terrorist Task Force (TRF) during a raid on the town of Kainusa in Bandipora district. TRF is an offshoot of proscribed Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. 

Police also recovered three hand grenades, 10 pistol rounds, 25 AK-47 rounds, and other implicating materials from the accused. The arrests were made by a team of Srinagar Police.

During the investigation, police said they found the trio collecting explosives and ammunition from terrorists at TRF to "conduct terrorist activities in Srinagar city". Chanapora Police Station charged three criminals under Sections 3 and 4 of the Penal Code, Section 25 of the Arms Act, and Sections 18, 23, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
