Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is a happy father today. His beloved son Ayaan is now free from cancer after 5 years of diagnosis. The actor, who will be seen next in Why Cheat India, took to social media to share the happy news with the world.

Sharing adorable pictures with his son Ayaan, Emraan Hashmi penned an emotional post. “Today, 5 years after his diagnosis Ayaan has been declared cancer free. It has been quite a journey. Thank you for all your prayers and wishes. Love and prayers for all the cancer fighters out there, hope and belief goes a long way. You can WIN this battle!!! #thekissoflife”, the actor wrote.

Born in February 2010, Ayaan, the first child of Emraan and wife Parveen Shahani, was diagnosed with first stage cancer at the age of four in early 2014.

In 2016, Emraan also wrote a book titled "The Kiss Of Life" on Ayaan's battle with cancer. The book is a heart touching account of Ayaan's brave journey of battling cancer. He did come out victorious. An excerpt from the book: "'Daddy, guess who called!' I sat beside him hurriedly, playing along. 'Who?' I whispered, looking at his big, brown eyes attentively. 'Batman,' he grinned. 'He told me how to become a superhero!' I gasped exaggeratedly, matching his level of excitement, then leaned forward and hugged him tight. My son was going to be a superhero."

"As I heard the creak of the little stretcher that wheeled Ayaan towards the operating theatre, my grip around Parveen's wrist tight grip around Parveen's wrist tightened. She followed Ayaan into the freezing air-conditioned room with whitewashed walls, with me in tow. It was the kind of clinical environment I detested. The smell of disinfectant took me back to the days my grandmother was battling for her life in the Intensive Care Unit, not too long ago. I looked at all my family members--my mother, my cousin Smiley Suri, Kumkum Saigal who I refer to as 'Chotumasi,' my child hood buddy Sharan-waiting out side. They anxiously nodded in support before we stepped in. The doctors were going to operate upon him. We looked at our little baby, sedated, completely unaware of the grave battle that he was about to fight."

On the work front, Emraan Hashmi is all geared up for his next Bollywood offering Why Cheat India, which is slated to release on January 18.

The film was earlier titled Cheat India but the lack of time left the makers of Cheat India no choice but to agree to a new title "Why Cheat India" upon the censor board's suggestion. But the film's actor and producer Emraan Hashmi says it is "illogical" and "ridiculous".

Why Cheat India is about the education system. It marks Emraan's debut as a producer.
