February 24 will mark veteran actress Sridevi's first death anniversary. It is tough to believe that Bollywood's Chandni is no more with us, however, the actress is still afresh in memories of people. Her films take us down the memory lane when Sridevi was ruling the Hindi film industry. Recently, her husband Boney Kapoor along with daughter Khushi Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor attended a puja at her Chennai residence on her death anniversary as per tithi.
Now, the family is all set to auction one of her favourite saris for a charitable cause. Boney Kapoor will honour his wife by auctioning her kota sari online on Parisera. The bid begins at Rs 40,000 and so far has gone up to Rs 1,25,000. The official website describes Sridevi's sari as 'constant reminder of her roots'. It writes, ''Sridevi's style has evolved since her early days in the film industry. But, the six yards has been a constant reminder of her roots. Being born in a South-Indian household, the actress has worn saris as a badge of her identity and has always infused a sense of unique charisma into its pleats."
The amount generated from the auction will go for the welfare of women, children, differently-abled, underprivileged and elderly people.
Late actress Sridevi was a fashionista. Her kanjivaram saris were always adored by her fans. People still remember her sparkling blue and sunshine yellow sari that she wore for Chandni.
On a related note, Sridevi died due to accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel. She was there to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah.
Sridevi's daughter Janhvi was shooting for Dhadak at the time of her demise. In several interviews, the actress has spoken about how she has never been able to come to terms with her death. Her film released months after her mother passed away.
