Mumbai, July 5: Yesteryears' item girl Sanjana (real name Rehana) , who shot to fame with the item song Diwane Hai Diwanon Ko Kya Chahiye in Amitabh Bachchan's first blockbuster Zanjeer, is today fighting against liver cancer and is seeking money from fans for her treatment.

Sanjana acted with Big B in Zanjeer and Ganga Ki Saugandh, with Dharmendra in Rakhwala and Yaadon Ki Baarat and with Jumping Jack Jitendra in Nalayak, Angaarey and Caravan, was one of the most sought-after item girls in Bollywood in her time.

She had her own house and car, which she sold away later, and is presently staying in a rented flat with her mentally challenged son. Her son-in-law's kidney has stopped working.

A sobbing Sanjana, 62, told India TV that she went to almost all the current big Bollywood stars for help and returned empty-handed. "I sometimes think of committing suicide."

Bollywood has its own film artistes' benevolent fund, but Sanjana's case speaks volumes about the efficacy of this fund management.

Last year, it was the famous actor A K Hangal, who publicly appealed for donations through India TV, for his treatment, and got a good amount of contributions from the Bollywood fraternity.
