Panaji, July 30: A right-wing Hindu organisation yesterday demanded removal of a song from the recently-released 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', describing it as "denigratory".

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has objected to the song 'Havan Karenge' in the movie, saying that the term 'havan' is considered holy in Hinduism. The memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar demands that the song be dropped from the film.

'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' has been made tax-free in Goa for three months. However, the organisation says, "The decision to make the film tax-free is like rubbing salt on the wounds of the majority community."

It further said, "Secondly, when the state is in need of funds due to the closure of mining activities and resorting to unrighteous means of earning revenue through the casinos, there is a loss of revenue from tax money through the promotion of the movie. This move is unexplainable."

"Promoting the movie with the denigratory song means indirect encouragement by the government to defame Hindu religion at the cost of exchequer," it added.
