New Delhi: Dilip Kumar's autobiography launch was an event comprising of Bollywood's celebs ranging from old and gold to new and young. The much awaited biography titled “The Substance and The Shadow” was penned down by Udaya Tara Nayar. The event witnessed some of the very big names from the industry. Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Aamir Khan, Vyjayanthimala, Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka Chopra are a few prominent names amongst many others who graced the auspicious event.While notes singers Shaan and Javed Ali presented a melody of thespian Dilip Kumar's films, prepared by Lalit Pandit, it was a whole cinematic view watching such big legends on the stage together. Legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar was also expected to come and sing for the tragedy king, DIlip Kumar, but unfortunately she couldn't make it. While expressing her views, Madhuri Dixit, who was accompanied by husband Sriram Nene, said, “Dilip Kumar is a legend in him and it's a big day. He has been an inspiration for everybody.”The gala saw Karan Johar as host and it was a rare glance watching almost the entire film fraternity participating in the event. The actor, who is still acknowledged as ‘Yusuf saab' by his admirers has reportedly disclosed many unread chapters of his life in the book and even talked about the intensity of relationship that he once shared with actress, Madhubala. Aamir, who recited a poem penned by Prasoon Joshi specifically for the occasion, said: “We all were eagerly waiting for this big day. I am a huge fan of Yusuf saab and I was waiting to read his book and his experiences.”At the event, others who equally applauded the actor's contribution to the Indian cinema were Zeenat Aman, Danny Denzongpa, Subhash Ghai, Rajkumar Hirani, Javed Akhtar, Farida Jalal, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Kapil Sharma, Ali Asghar, Prem Chopra, Bappi Lahiri, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Pankaj Udhas and many more. The event took place at Grand Hyatt in Santa Cruz and was a complete glitzy do studded with industry's big shots. Actress Priyanka Chopra walked the red carpet, said she was “honoured” to be invited for the event.“I'm so happy for them today. They have been close to my family for a long time. I have seen all his films and I really admire him,” she said.Veteran actress and wife of Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu looked elegant in a green coloured saree accompanying the husband every time around. She even said that every single page of the book has been written with utmost dedication and that they are hoping to get good remarks by the readers. In one of her statement, she even mentioned that ‘The Substance and The Shadow' touches those stances of Dilip Kumar's life that no one has ever read before about him. The Chairman and Editor-in-chief of India TV, Rajat Sharma also attended the event. The 91-year-old legendary actor, Dilip Kumar stepped in the glamour world with his 1944 release, ‘Jwar Bhat' and then went on to do films and became famous with ‘Mela,' ‘Naya Daur,' ‘Devdas,' ‘Madhumati,' and ‘Mughal-E-Azam.' Aamir Khan and wife Gauri grace the event together. Priyanka Chopra looked mesmerizing wearing a Sabyasachi creation at the do. Karan Johar hosted the gala and prominent Bollywood actresses Madhuri Dixit and Vyjayanthimala inaugurated the event. The 'Jai-Veeru' jodi of teh industry talked about Dilip Kumar and made the audience emotional. Aditya Pancholi, Aamir Khan and Aditya Pancholi too attnded the prestigious event. Actress Deepti Naval arrived wearing a beautiful white saree. She looked gorgeous. Sanjay Khan and Javed Akhtar were spotted indulging getting in a deep rendezvous at the gala. Dharmendra and Subhash Ghai also shared a deep conversation at the do. Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was spotted in a serious mood. Dany Denzongpa and Rajkumar Hirani sat together at the event.
