New Delhi, Aug 8: Actress Delnaz Irani is excited about going back to her roots of a Parsi girl for the first time on-screen with the TV show 'Kehta hai Dil  Jee Le Zara'.

Delnaz has been in the industry for over a decade with many serials and films to her credit, but has never played a Parsi girl before.

"I was kicked when I heard the script of 'Jee Le Zara'. For the first time in so many years I will be playing a Parsi girl. But it is not a typical Parsi role which you often see on-screen. Dilshaad is very bubbly, independent and charming.

My only condition before taking up this show was not sounding like a typical Parsi. She has to be natural," Delnaz told PTI.

The Sony TV show will see 'Des Main Nikla Hoga Chand' actress Sangeeta Ghosh in the lead role and will go on air from August 12.

Delnaz, 39, is most famous for her role as Sweetu in Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Kal Ho Naa Ho" and her shows "Karam Apnaa Apnaa" and "Kya Huaa Tera Vaada" are quite popular on the small screen.

Delnaz says she does not mind playing a bubbly and comic character everytime on-screen as fans have accepted her like this.

"I would love to step aside from the bubbly character but I work to entertain my fans and they want to see me like this.

I do theatre which is far from comedy and my roles there are dark. I get a change by doing that so I am not going to cry about it," she added.

The actress, who was also a part of 'Bigg Boss 6', says life hasn't changed much post the reality show.

"It was a good experience but it hasn't changed my life drastically, like people think. I used to get work before Bigg Boss and I am getting after it also. Yes, you do get money and popularity but it is not something great that has happened. It was part of my job and I did it," Delnaz said.
