New Delhi: Varun Dhawan has all geared up for his first release of the year ‘Badlapur' that will have him carrying a rugged and robust look unlike his earlier appearances.

Ever since his first look surfaced, his fans were stunned and critics went gaga over him for ditching his chocolate boy image and daring to go out exploring his different side.

But what left us all awe-struck was the trailer featuring him in a completely brutal avatar. With bearded face carrying the pain of losing his family and eyes filled with flame of vengeance, Varun looked uneven and ready to give a hard-hitting performance. And while we'll see him excel in that role this Friday, today we look back at some other Bollywood actors who have donned the similar tough look in movies and excelled with élan.

Aamir Khan - The first Rs 100 cr flick of Bollywood, ‘Ghajini' had Aamir Khan donning a rough avatar that also set a trend post and prior its release. The movie was a romantic cum revenge saga and featured Aamir Khan in bald look while his beefy body was quite a fashion in the year 2008.

Shahid Kapoor - This year's Filmfare best actor Shahid Kapoor's look in ‘Haider' was hugely admired all over. With partially bald head and bearded face, the actor went on to display his best performance which was highly intense.

Hrithik Roshan - Hrithik Roshan too opted for that rugged look in ‘Kites'. With long messed up hair and unshaven appearance, the actor looked handsome as always. Hrithik carried that look to render a heartrending performance post his separation with his onscreen lovemate (played by Barbara Mori). And he quite succeeded in emoting us with that.

Akshay Kumar - Khiladi Kumar opted for a beard look in Tashan and once again the actor will prefer the same for his upcoming action-drama ‘Gabbar' starring Shruti Haasan. However, he will also have long hair besides keeping his face unshaven.

Arjun Rampal - Rampal in D-Day, an Indian action spy thriller, donned the rough appearance with flair. The actor was highly praised for his intense act while his fans couldn't take their eyes off his bearded face.
