Veteran actor Dilip Kumar admitted to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai, condition stable

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra this morning after complaint of chest pain. "Dilip Kumar ji was admitted to Lilavati hospital at 2 am for respiratory problems.

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra this morning after complaint of chest pain.

"Dilip Kumar ji was admitted to Lilavati hospital at 2 am for respiratory problems. He's not in the ICU, but doctors are keeping a close watch on him," Dr. Jalil Parkar of Lilavati Hospital said.

A team of doctors headed by cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale are treating the 93-year-old actor at the moment. His condition is said to be stable now.

 

Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu also posted a health updated on the veteran actor’s Twitter handle stating that he is not in ICU and is recovering.

He was presented the Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award, in December last year. The government had also honoured him with the Padma Bhushan award in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1994 while the Pakistan government gave him its highest civilian honour - Nishan-e-Imtiaz - in 1997.

He was also nominated to Rajya Sabha for a term from 2000 to 2006.

He was born Muhammad Yusuf Khan on December 11, 1922, in Peshawar (now in Pakistan) and his acting career spanned six decades and over 60 films.
