Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan’s highly-anticipated film Thugs of Hindostan hit the cinema halls today. This year, Aamir Khan has something really grand to offer on Diwali. Last year, his film Secret Superstar did wonders at the box office, being a slice-of-life drama. Packed with meticulous VFX and eye-catching star cast, Thugs of Hindostan is expected to be a smashing hit in terms of business. While the trailer received mixed reviews on the social media, with many comparing it to Johnny Depp’s Pirates of Caribbean, let’s draw a conjecture on Thugs of Hindostan’s box office numbers.

There has been a lot of buzz around Thugs of Hindostan, first for its stellar star cast including Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan; second, for the extravagant scale on which the film is being made. Expectations from TOH skyrocketed right from the word go. However, the trailer did dampen the spirit to some extent, but the business remains unlikely to be affected.

Now the question remains, will Thugs of Hindostan make Rs 50 crore on its opening day? With 2018’s most anticipated films including Race 3, Gold, Sanju and Padmaavat, which didn’t cross the Rs 40 crore at the box office, Thugs of Hindostan is expected to rake in around Rs 40 crore. Citing that this Aamir Khan film is witnessing solo release around the biggest festival of the year i.e. Diwali, Rs 40 crore on Day 1 wouldn’t be a surprise.

It makes TOH even more awaited with Bollywood’s two finest offerings working together.
