New Delhi: Abhishek Choubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’ has been the hot topic of discussion these days. The makers are stuck in a legal battle with the censor board over the release of the movie.

Apart from the censor board controversy, ‘Udta Punjab’ has been in the news for its interesting star cast of Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh.

This is Shahid-Kareena’s first movie together post their break-up in 2007. In fact, their appearance during the trailer launch of ‘Udta Punjab’ bagged a lot eyes as well.

While people are excited to see this ex-couple together on silver screen, many are speculating about what made Bebo sign a movie with Shahid Kapoor nearly after a decade.

Well, the ‘Heroine’ actress has finally come up with the reason behind doing ‘Udta Punjab’ and it has nothing to do with Shahid.

“I have done many films in the past where I have played a pivotal roles but I chose to be a part of this film because it is important that this message gets told which am sure is going to come on screen,”

Kareena told a leading daily.

The diva also spoke about the ongoing controversy between the censor board and ‘Udta Punjab’ makers and stated,

“I have full faith in the film, full faith in Abhishek Chaubey (director) and full faith in our fans. There are big stars in the film and all of them have a huge fan base. And the reason I did Udta Punjab is because there is no small or big role. And even if my role is a special one in the film if we actors don’t do these kinds of films, the message (about drug menace) will never be out.”

‘Udta Punjab’ is expected to release on June 17.
