Remember the big box office clash of two most awaited movies of 2015 in December last year – ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’?

This clash had created a lot of buzz in the B-town leaving people speculating who will emerge as the ultimate winner.

Well, the box office has come across a similar situation now. This time, however, the clash is between ‘Rustom’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’.

Tinu Suresh Desai’s ‘Rustom’ starring Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’Cruz will be clashing with Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde on August 12.

Though, both the movies are of different genres, a tough competition is being speculated between the two most anticipated films of 2016.

Let’s see which movie has an upper hand at the box office

Crime Thriller vs Period Drama

‘Rustom’ is a crime-mystery movie based on the real life incident of Naval Officer K M Nanavati. The movie dates back to 1959 and revolves around a navy officer who had shot his wife’s lover with his service revolver.

On the other hand, ‘Mohenjo Daro’ is a periodical drama revolving around an epic adventure love story. The movie is set in 2600 B.C in the era of Indus valley civilization.

Trailer review:

The trailer of ‘Rustom’ had won rave views from the audience. The movie’s trailer looked powerful and promising.

Talking about the trailer of ‘Mohenjo Daro’, despite being widely viewed by the audience, it failed to leave a mark on the audience. In fact, the trailer invited criticism with fans questioning the depiction of historical times through VFX technology.

Hrithik Vs Akshay

Both the actors have their own set of fans and are quite popular amongst the youth. While Hrithik is the youth icon, Akshay is famous for being a fitness freak and acting skills.

Moreover, Akki has an upper hand over HR because of his experience as well. If we talk about the box office journey of both the stars, Akshay has been successful with movies based on serious subjects like ‘Baby’, ‘Airlift’ and many more. On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan has always been unlucky in love as most of his love stories failed to leave a mark at the box office except of ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’.

Ashutosh Gowariker Vs Tinu Suresh Desai

Ashutosh Gowariker’s experience could be a plus point for ‘Mohenjo Daro’. The director has been acknowledged for his work in ‘Lagaan’, ‘Swades’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’. In fact, his last movie with Hrithik – ‘Jodha Akbar’ turned out be a superhit at the box office.

On the other hand, ‘Rustom’ happens to be a second directorial for Tinu Suresh Desai. His first movie was ‘1920: London’ which went flat at the box office.

Promotions:

The entire Bollywood has come together in support of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’. Several celebs, from Salman Khan to Arjun Kapoor, were seen promoting the movie in their own way. In fact, the entire B-team is leaving no stone unturned to make the movie a huge hit.

On the other hand, Hrithik and Pooja are also making sizzling appearances in various events in order to promote ‘Mohenjo Daro’. However, the B-town support is the missing element in their case.

As per the above mentioned points, it seems that Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ might turn out to be a winner at the box office. However, with destiny being quite unpredictable the actual results will be out post the release of both the movies on August 12.
