Thackeray, the biopic on late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui got leaked hours after its release. The entire film is now available on a torrent site and the infamous Tamilrockers are behind this piracy. Earlier, films like Why Cheat India, The Accidental Prime Minister, Simmba and even Zero became victim to piracy. The website is a hub for pirated movies and despite several efforts, authorities have failed to stop them.

Directed by Abhijit Panse and written and produced by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Sanjay Raut, Thackeray also features Amrita Rao and Sudhir Mishra in pivotal roles. The movie which has been made with a budget of Rs 20 crore is expected to make a decent number on day 1.

As soon as the trailer of Thackeray was out, people went gaga over Nawaz. From his striking resemblance to the iconic political figure of Maharashtra to nailing the Marathi accent, Nawaz excelled in every department. The actor, who never fails to disappoint with his performance received rave reviews for his portrayal of the character. However, Nawaz was not the first choice for the role.

In an interview with Mid-Day, casting director Rohan Mapuskar said, ''Director Abhijit Panse, Sanjay Raut and I were brainstorming on who we'd like to cast and were contemplating (roping in) Irrfan. We had his image to see if it matched that of Mr. Thackeray, and were convinced''. Reportedly, Amrita Rao, who played the role of Meena Tai, was also not the first choice of makers. They were contemplating roping in Rasika Dugal.
