Actress Vidya Balan, who has won applause from critics and audiences for her outstanding performance in her latest flick ‘Kahaani 2 - Durga Rani Singh’, has said it was she and her ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ co-star John Abraham who were the first choice for Vikramaditya Motwane’s film ‘Lootera’ and not Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha.

The lady has taken some challenging roles in her career and proved her mettle as an actress in the industry. Her latest revelation has come as big news to movie buffs.

Speaking to a leading daily, Vidya stated that ‘Lootera’ was offered to her in 2007 and she was paired with John but it couldn’t happen that time.

The director then proceeded with the work of ‘Udaan’ and everybody was busy with different films. After some time, she came to know that Ranveer and Sonakshi were playing the leads in the flick.

The actress further stated that when she watched the movie, she really liked Sonakshi’s performance. She went on to say that she is affectionate towards Bengali things. Thus, she thought that if she would have done the film, the Bengali song ‘Monta Re’ in it would have been filmed on her.

On being quizzed about the regrets in her career, the lady firmly said that not being the part of that one song from ‘Lootera’ was her only regret.

Vidya was last seen in ‘Kahani 2’ alongside Arjun Rampal. The project was helmed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film was the sequel of 2012 film ‘Kahaani’.
