Bollywood star John Abraham kick-started the shooting of his upcoming spy-thriller 'RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter' today. Taking to Twitter, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote "#RomeoAkbarWalter starts with a pooja ceremony... Stars John Abraham... Directed by Robbie Grewal... Shooting commences 17 June 2018... #RAW."

TV actress Mouni Roy will reportedly be romancing John Abraham in the film.

The actress confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror and said, “I’ve given auditions in the past, but this film just happened. I went for a meeting and the team instantly felt I suited the character as I have an old-world vibe. They offered me the role and I immediately said ‘yes’. I wasn’t happy with the other offers I got around the time but I am excited about this film.”

Mouni Roy also took to her Instagram account to share a snap of an article, where the headline read, "John finds his ladylove in Mouni".

"Beginners journals...Need all the love & blessings pl," she wrote alongside.

Directed by Robbie Grewal, 'RAW' will be shot in a 60-day start-to-finish schedule.

The flick will be produced by Dheeraj Wadhwan, Ajay Kapoor, Vanessa Walia, and Gary Grewal.

Revealing that John's looks in the film will be an attraction point, the makers also informed that they have roped in National Award-winning makeup artist Vikram Gaikwad and famous costume designer Amera Pulwani for the espionage thriller, as reported by Mumbai Mirror.

Rome Akbar Walter has been written and directed by Robbie Grewal who shared that Roy has a multi-layered role in the film. Ajat Kapoor (co-producer of Parmanu) further added, “She fits the part perfectly.”

According to Mirror, the film's shooting will begin from 16 June and will be shot across Gujarat, Kashmir, Delhi and Nepal in a 60-day schedule.
